There are some who sincerely believe that because of God, His goodness,
greatness and grace, everyone is going to Heaven. Everyone, they believe is
going to Heaven through one of many ways. Does the Bible teach this?
Many will not be saved. In Matthew 7:13-14, our Lord taught that there
are many traveling that broad way that leads to destruction. Those who
travel that broad way cannot go to heaven for they are serving sin (Romans
6:16-18).
Salvation is possible. God desires that ³all men be saved and come unto
the knowledge of the truth² (1 Timothy 2:4). Salvation is only in and
through Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12; 2 Timothy 2:10; John 14:6). God by His
grace has made salvation available (Titus 2:11-12; Ephesians 2:8-10). Now,
if salvation is to be ours, we must respond in obedience to His way.
Only the obedient will be saved. Jesus said, ³Not everyone that saith
unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; But he that
doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven² (Matthew 7:21). Salvation
is
only for those who obey the Lord (Hebrews 5:8-9). If we believe in Christ
(John 8:24); repent of our sins (Luke 13:3); confess Christ (Matthew 10:32)
and be baptized (Mark 16:16), all spiritual blessings will be ours
(Ephesians 1:3) including the hope of Heaven.
A DIARY OF A GREAT GOSPEL MEETING
Dennis Gulledge
Saturday, September 7th
Gary and Maggie Colley arrived safely at the Little Rock airport. Bill
Boyd picked them up and took them to their room at the Residence Inn. The
elders and their wives, along with preachers and their wives enjoyed dinner
with the Colleys at the Dixie Café.
Sunday, September 8th
The day begins with an excellent Bible class taught by Gary Colley. All
the adult classes assembled in the auditorium for a verse-by-verse study of
Colossians 3 under the theme, ³What it means to be a Christian.² Our
Bible
study attendance was 180. Many visitors were present. At the worship hour
brother Colley preached on ³Is Life Worth Living?² There were 229
present.
Brad Horton led the singing. Singing was great! A marvelous potluck
luncheon followed with more food than could be served at one time. That
evening brother Colley spoke on ³Our Attitude Toward the Scriptures.²
We
rejoiced along with the angelic host at the immersion into Christ of Caty
Douglas by her father Ron. We had 222 present that evening. A visitor told
Gary Colley, ³I think this is what I need.² He replied, ³I know
this is what
you need.² Gary Colley spoke to visitation team #2 after services. What
a
wonderful Lord¹s day!
Monday, September 9th
Gary Colley spoke at the area-wide preacher¹s meeting at the church
building at 11:00 AM. Fifteen were present. Bill Boyd¹s Sunday morning
auditorium class provided dinner with the Colley¹s at 5:30. At meeting
that
evening 199 were present, with many visitors. Brother Colley¹s sermon was,
³Why Preach the Gospel?² Mary Ann Tucker responded to the invitation
to be
restored and place her membership with Mabelvale. The singing was
excellent! Alan Caudle did an excellent job leading our song service.
Tuesday, September 10th
Brother Colley addressed the All Comers Class on the peace of God from
Philippians 4 in view of the 9-11 anniversary. Gene Sullivan¹s and Doyce
Tarkington¹s Sunday morning class had dinner with the Colley¹s that
evening.
For the service brother Colley delivered as fine a sermon on the beginning
of the church as I have ever heard. Alan Caudle did another excellent job
leading the singing. There were 196 present.
Wednesday, September 11th
Gary Colley spoke in chapel at CAC that morning. Dale Morris¹ Sunday
morning class, along with Dennis Gulledge and Alan Caudle¹s class, provided
dinner with the Colley¹s that evening. It was catered by Smokey Joe¹s,
and

presentation on Christ¹s attitude toward the lost. There were 187 present.
Darren Gowen did an excellent job leading the singing in the final service
of our gospel meeting..

THE CHRISTIAN¹S USE OF THE OLD TESTAMENT
³All Scripture is inspired of God² (2 Timothy 3:16). That necessarily
includes the Old Testament. If Christians are not to live by Old Testament
teaching, what use may we make of it? Should we teach and preach it? If we
are to ³rightly divide² ³handle aright² the world of truth
(2 Timothy 2:15),
we must know about the use we can make of the Old Testament.
