The Teenage Class at Mabelvale finished a seventeen-week study course on
the subject of Christian Evidences on July 21st. During the extended study,
conclusions drawn fell in favor of the creation model of origins while the
false philosophy of Evolution folded under the weight of scientific
evidences and reason.
Scientific laws like the Laws of Cause and Effect, Biogenesis, and Moral
Code could not be explained by purely natural means. Application of the
Uniformitarian principle of geologic change (1 foot of accumulation / 2000
years) could not account for evidences like "polystrate fossils."
Study of
the fundamental elements of the scientific method proved that Scientism, the
belief that science alone either has, can, or will tell us everything we
need to know, is false, and consequently, there is no science of origins.
This being true, all must rely on credible testimony in the matter and God
was the only witness!
The truths revealed from our study should be no surprise to
Bible-believing Christians, but the course had a two-fold purpose not only
to strengthen their faith, but also to provide arguments for the defense of
Christianity (1 Pet.3:15). Production is underway now of a "Christian
Evidences" notebook which will enable our young people to have on hand
the
outlines studied during the course with Scriptural references for the field
of spiritual warfare. The Bible and science agree; Just ask our young
people!
Checklist for personal workers
Scott Perry
The next course of study for the youth at Mabelvale will be on personal
evangelism, the foundational work of the church. Philosophies believed by
the masses this day and age can be blamed for the lack of growth in the
church, but when time is taken to understand honestly why the church remains
small, the blame game cannot justify our lack of effort. More people will be
converted only when all members of the church become more involved in
personal Bible studies in their own homes and the homes of those interested
in the truth. The reason we don¹t have more personal Bible studies is
because we do not ask enough people. "We have not, because we ask not."
Brother Otis Gatewood wrote a very comprehensive guide toward the promotion
of personal work in the church containing over two hundred facets covering
over twenty chapters entitled, You Can Do Personal Work. Chapter Six,
entitled "Attitudes and Characteristics of Personal Workers," listed
some
general qualities necessary for one¹s success:
1. Your Attitude right attitude. The motive behind your efforts will to a great
extent
regulate your success. Before approaching someone, ask yourself, "Why am
I
doing this?"
2. Be Sure You Have a Genuine Love For Humanity personal worker just because
it is your duty or just because it has been
forced upon you, you are almost sure to fail. Duty should be one motive, but
not the predominating one; ask , "Do I love this person whom I am
approaching?"
3. Smile early converts rejoiced when they obeyed the gospel? No wonder some
people
don¹t want to become Christians. They look at us and think Christianity
takes all the joy out of living. Actions speak louder than words, so a smile
says, "I like you. You make me happy. I¹m glad to see you." I
never did like
a growling dog and have always tried to avoid him, but when I meet one that
is wagging his tail and happy to see me, I am glad to see him.
4. Believe people want what I have has ever known. Millions are searching for
it. They have not found it,
therefore they have accepted denominationalism, Catholicism, worldly
pleasures, etc. They would gladly give up those things for the pure gospel
of Christ if they only knew. You may feel that they have had just as good an
opportunity as you have had, but they haven¹t.
Believe one soul is worth more than all the world how precious a soul is, we
would not despair of any effort to teach the
truth. (to be continued in two weeks)

WHAT IS EVIL? DID GOD CREATE EVIL?
Since the September 11 tragedy, we¹ve been hearing a lot of talk about
something called "evil." Well, evil has been around a long time, but
it
hasn¹t been considered quite the thing to do to mention it in our times,
because after all who is to say what is evil. In our society one person¹s
evil may be another person¹s good. What is evil? Whence came evil? Did
God
create it? What does the Bible say?
