Thanks To VBS Workers
Scott Perry

There are many aspects involved in accomplishing a Vacation Bible
School, and it could not happen without workers willing to put in the
required time and effort outside of their normal daily duties.
Responsibilities range from those who are willing to lead to those who are
willing to follow. Both are equally necessary (1 Cor.12:21).
Thanks to all the skit coordinators for doing a fantastic job each
night, and to the teachers who correlated their lessons and activities to
further illustrate the lessons for the children. Thanks to the narrator and
everyone who participated in the skits, those who helped to make the
costumes and settings, and those who kept everyone fed with cookies and
soda. Thanks to the song leaders who did an excellent job, and others who
helped with individual responsibilities when they were asked. Good things
were said about the teachers who conducted adult Bible classes as well.
Vacation Bible School is a tremendous opportunity and privilege to reach
the children of our own and our community. The story of Joseph exposes many
lessons for us that help us learn the things which God approves and
disapproves. This year¹s Vacation Bible School succeeded because of
everyone who participated in it. Let us exercise the lessons we learned
about hatred, ingratitude, blessing, and forgiveness to behave as pleasing
in God¹s sight as we possibly can..

WHAT¹S THIS I HEAR ABOUT "THE RAPTURE"
A person would have to be living on some far-off-isolated island not to have
heard talk about "the rapture." It¹s strange that so much preaching can be
done about something the Bible doesn¹t even mention. What are those false
prophets talking about, and what does the Bible really say about it in our
Lord¹s return?

A Matter of Faith
Scott Perry

Since the time of Sir Charles Lyell (1797-1875), "a young English
attorney who enthusiastically accepted the doctrine of gradual geological
change (Uniformitarianism) advocated at the end of the eighteenth century by
James Hutton" (1726-1797), [The Genesis Flood, p. 95] men of religious
conviction began to compromise the Bible doctrine of the Noahic Flood and
young age of the Earth. Uniformitarianism is the philosophy that "the
present is the key to the past." In other words, the rates of geologic
change (erosion, wind, sedimentation, etc.) which can be tested today are
assumed to have always been constant from the beginning of time with
abhorrence to any consideration of major catastrophes (like the flood of
Noah¹s day which would disrupt this gradual process and render the theory
useless). A philosophy depicted in the final letter by the Apostle Peter (2
Pet.3:3-7).
This theory did not infiltrate the religious world overnight, but it did
make quick work of theologians by seducing them into a false harmony between
Historical Geology and the Bible. Sincere, well intentioned men like George
Cuvier (1769-1832), who wholeheartedly believed in the Biblical account of
the Flood, opened doors to a host of theories which threatened to drive the
concept of Flood geology from the intellectual scene by the mid 1800¹s
(Flood, p.92). While Mr. Cuvier believed the observable layer of earth was
laid down by the Biblical Flood, he did not believe it accounted for the
major strata containing fossils underneath this layer, rather that they were
laid down by "Pre-Adamic floods," something the Bible does not mention. His
false philosophy opened the door for the "Gap Theory" and ultimately
Uniformitarianism.
Historical Geology is different than Geology in that it interprets
geological findings in an attempt to recreate the past which qualifies it as
a "wisdom" (1 Cor. 2:14) or "philosophy of man" (Col. 2:8) in contention
with the supreme wisdom of God (1 Cor. 1:19-20) and, consequently, will be
brought to nothing (1 Cor.2:6). Such a harmony between Historical Geology
and the Bible does not exist, as all compromisers eventually learn when the
evil which they embrace (under the guise of "not keeping people out of the
kingdom") eventually weans them after using them only to catch bigger fish
(those who accept God at His word). These menpleasers have not learned the
lessons of the past.
The age of the earth is a matter of faith because "without faith, it is
impossible to please God (Heb.11:6). Faith comes by hearing (Rom.10:17) or
reading God¹s word (Jon.20:30, 31). God said He created the earth in six,
literal twenty-four hour days (Exo.20:11). The days to which God is
referring in (Exo. 20:11) are the days of Genesis chapter one. The days of
Genesis one are further modified as an "evening and a morning."
