Bible Bowl in Malvern
Scott Perry

On November 8, participants from five assemblies (North Main, Cullendale, Jessieville, Crossett, and Mabelvale) came together for exam, edification, and example.
The exam portion of our meeting involved taking two tests (one written and one oral) over information about the church. The written exam consisted of well over a 100 questions! We studied material from Engraving Heavenly Truths (D.L Woods Publishing: Olive Branch, Mississippi). The teens at Mabelvale did exceptionally well scoring a team average of 115.5 out of a possible 137. Participating were Breanna, David, and Jessica Gulledge and Nick and Kristin Lowe.
The reciprocating edification came through fun fellowship and soul lifting singing led by Tom Moore. After a full morning of mental exercise we replenished ourselves with a fine meal. Spiritual food is far greater that natural food, but it can’t fill a stomach! It truly is a privilege to break bread with the finest people on earth and talk about spiritual things.
The example set by parents and children who attended by devoting time on a Saturday for spiritual gain will be realized both in the ability to stand for truth now and in recognition by God at the Judgment. The next generation of adult Christians cannot know too much about the church, especially as false teachers continue to lead many of God’s people away from the divine pattern of the Bible.

I Can’t See Any Harm In It

Consider these guidelines when determining whether a practice is right or wrong.

¸ The Personal Test: Will doing this make me a better or worse Christian?
¸ The Social Test: Will doing it influence others to be better or worse Christians?
¸ The Practical Test: Will the results of my doing it be desirable?
¸ The Universal Test: If everyone should do this, would it improve or degrade society?
¸ The Scriptural Test: Does the Bible endorse it, or is it expressly forbidden by the Word of God?
¸ The Stewardship Test: Will my doing this constitute a waste of talent God gave me?
¸ The Character Test: What will be the influence of my moral and spiritual stamina?
¸ The Family Test: Will it bring discredit and dishonor to my family, and will it embarrass them?
¸ The Publicity Test: Would I be willing for friends, fellow Christians, the elders, and the preacher to know about it?
¸ The Common Sense Test: Does it agree with just plain, everyday, ordinary common sense?
¸ The Fairness Test: Is it honest, and is it practicing the golden rule?

“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Abstain from all appearance of evil”

1 Thessalonians 5:21-22
