REPORT PORNOGRAPHY

³...Every day, countless Americans are unwillingly subjected to illegal
pornography through unsolicited e-mails that come from pornographic websites
and companies. There is now an online tool they can use to fight the growing
trend on the Internet. Morality in Media has created a new website
(www.obscenitycrimes.org) that links directly to federal prosecutors who
specialize in pursuing pornographers and prosecuting illegal porn activity.
Organization spokesman Pat Trueman explains people can now file a complaint
at the new website. It contains a simple complaint form where name and
address are optional; the offending site name with its Internet address
(URL) are required. The reporting individuals own e-mail address may be
entered into the form if a reply is desired. The complaint then will go from
that website form right to the United States Attorney who is charged with
prosecuting that crime. One prosecutor who said he has never received
complaints before reports he received more than 40 from the website in the
first month. (Agape Press, 11/7/02).²
EDITOR¹S NOTE: This report came to me via e-mail from my friend Mark
McWhorter. I pass it on for the benefit of our readers who may
occasionally receive those unwelcome pornographic e-mails. The Internet
presents a dangerous world for our children and us. We need to employ the
means available for us to fight back. Dennis Gulledge.

AN ³OUTRAGEOUS² PRAYER
Charles Williams

Perhaps this prayer should be uttered before every State Legislature.
On January 23, 1996, Joe Wright of Wichita, Kansas, was the guest
chaplain for the Kansas House of Representatives. He was asked to open
their session that day with its customary prayer. However, after the
prayer, three house members jumped to their feet in a rage and indignantly
shouted, ³He can¹t talk like that!² What was it he said that was so
terrible? Listen in:
³Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and
to seek your direction and guidance. We know your Word says woe to those
who call evil good but that¹s exactly what we have done. We have lost our
spiritual equilibrium and inverted our values.
We confess that we have ridiculed the absolute truth of your Word in the
name of moral pluralism. We have worshipped other gods and called it
multiculturalism. We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative
lifestyle. We have exploited the poor and called it a lottery.
We have neglected the needy and called it self-preservation. We have
rewarded laziness and called it welfare. In the name of choice we killed
our unborn. In the name of right to life we have killed abortionists. We
have neglected to discipline our children and called it building esteem. We
have abused power and called it political savvy. We have coveted out
neighbors¹ possessions and called it taxes. We have polluted the air with
profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have
ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it
enlightenment.
Search us, O God, and know our hearts today. Try us and show us any
wicked way in us. Cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Guide and
bless these men and women who have been sent here by the people of Kansas
and who have been ordained by you to govern this great state. Grant them
your wisdom to rule and may their decisions direct us to the center of Your
will. We ask in the name of your Son, the living Savior Jesus Christ,
Amen.²
I am sure that it took a good deal of courage to offer this prayer
before the Kansas House of Representatives. Perhaps it should be offered in
every state legislature. Solomon said, ³Righteousness exalts a nation, but
sin is a reproach to any people² (Proverbs 14:34).
We need to pray for our public officials. They have a God-given
responsibility as God¹s ministers to serve the people for righteousness¹
sake (Romans 13:1-7). We need to pray that God will grant them wisdom to
make decisions that will encourage the nation to serve God¹s will. (From,
The South Florida Messenger, September 2, 1998).

WALKING WITH JESUS
The word ³gospel² means ³good news² or ³glad message.² Although it can apply
to any such message, a wedding, the birth of a baby, etc., it is almost
exclusively a religious word with us. But not all or just any religiononly
Christianity. And there are many aspects of that good news. Among them is
³the gospel of your salvation² (Ephesians 1:13).
