Take time a weary one¹s burden to ease
Across a rough place in the road;
Take time to pause with a brother that¹s weak
And help him carry his load.
Take time to be gentle, forgiving and kind;
Take time to be humble and meek;
Take time to bring souls to the knowledge of truth,
That the way of life they may seek.
Take time ¹ere that harsh, cutting word you have said,
For the fires of your anger to cool;
Take time to remember that indifference, neglect
May make you the devil¹s own tool.
Take time to give ear to the cry of distress;
Take time to ease heartache and need;
Take time, in the scramble and hurry of life,
To do a neighborly deed.
Take time to stand staunch against error and sin;
Take time to call Jesus your friend;
Take time (though ¹tis never a popular course)
God¹s Word of truth to defend.
Take time, in your worries and troubles and cares,
To lean secure on God¹s grace;
And as sure as He reigns in His mercy and might,
You¹ll come out ahead in the race.

What¹s Wrong With Using the NIV? (2)
Scott Perry
Brother Taylor explains why the NIV is found wanting,
PERVERSIONS IN THE PREFACE
Unlike the stately and accurate American Standard of 1901 and the
King James Versions the NIV does not use italics for the words they have
supplied or added. They do say that ³brackets are occasionally used to
indicate words or phrases supplied for clarification.² But it needs to
be kept in mind that they have not been consistent even in this. Even
they confess they have done it occasionally (see, e.g., Eccl. 12:13 duty,
sp) . . . From these stately and reliable versions we can know when a
word has been supplied. But from the new ones we cannot. This is true
with the RSV, the NEB, the TEV, the NIV and all other modern speech
versions known to me and I have spent many years in abstracting them (pp.
92, 93).
Previously in chapter 3 of his book brother Taylor commented on Psalm
51:5, The highly heralded NIV among some of our brethren (this writer is
not of that number) rendered Psalm 51:5 to read, ³Surely I have been a
sinner from birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.² This
really needs no explanation to anyone who knows the basic difference
between truth and error, between Calvinism and the Bible doctrine of how a
person really becomes sinful [(see 1 John 3:4, sp) p. 32, parenth. comment
and emph. in orig.].
In reference to the separation of Old and New Covenants which is
paramount to a correct understanding of Scripture, Mr. Taylor writes:
PERVERSIONS IN THE GOSPEL RECORDS
Like nearly every one of the modern speech versions on the market
today the NIV translators have a flat contradiction between what they have
the Christ to say in Matthew 5:17 and what they have Paul to write in
Ephesians 2:15 and Hebrews 10:9. They have the Christ to say on the
Sermon on the Mount, ³Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law.
.
.I have not come to abolish. . .² Yet they have Paul to say in Ephesians
2:15, ³. . .by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments .
.
.² They have Paul to affirm what Christ denied
he came to do. . .Furthermore, they have the writer of Hebrews. . . to
declare in chapter ten and verse nine, ³He sets aside the first to establish
the second.² This is another flat contradiction! (p. 95).

WHAT ON EARTH AM I DOING HERE?
An e-mail a few days ago said, ³Please pray for me that I may know what
I am
supposed to be doing on this place called earth.² We prayed for this person
in our SEARCH staff morning devotionals and decided we would try to help
with a program on the subject of the meaning and purpose of life. It may
help others, too.
