For several months Dale Morris and I have been
teaching the book, The Many Faces, and Causes, of Unbe-lief, by Bert Thompson.
Brother Morris and I have enjoyed studying and teaching this book. Dale’s
medical insights and many years as a member of this congregation have added
a very interesting dimension to our study, as they do to all of our classes.
We will finish this study on April 19th.
On the following Wednesday, April 26th, we
will begin a new study and take our thoughts in a much differ-ent direction.
For this study I have selected the book sim-ply titled, Prayer, written
by brother James M. Tolle. In this book we will study what the Bible
teaches about prayer in all of its various aspects. It contains thirteen
chapters with the following titles: (1) Basic Considerations,
(2) Prayer and Conversion, (3) The Efficacy of Prayer [1],
(4) The Efficacy of Prayer [2], (5) Conditions of Accept-able Prayer
[1], (6) Conditions of Acceptable Prayer [2], (7) Prayer as
Communion, (8) Prayer as Petition, (9) Prayer as Intercession,
(10) When and Where to Pray, (11) Hindrances to Prayer, (12)
Prayer in the Life of Jesus [1], and, (13) Prayer in the Life of Jesus
[2].
In light of the fact that the Lord’s disciples
once asked him to teach them how to pray (Lk. 11:1), I am sure that this
study will be important and richly rewarding to us all. We hope that
you will join us in this class!
