SHALL WE ENTERTAIN OR JUST PREACH IT PLAIN?

The religious society of our day (for the most part) believes that young people can no longer be drawn to God by the means set forth in His Word.  Even among the church of our Lord, leaders and members alike are trying to entertain their young people in hopes of getting them interested in the church.  For a long time denominations have been building gymnasiums or "family life centers" with the purpose of entertaining their teenage members.  Many have tried to draw young people with changes in worship such as live bands and dramas.  And yes, sadly enough this concept of "amusement park" religion has spilt over into the church.  So, what should we do?  Is this acceptable in the eyes of the Lord?  can we still interest young people with the pure Gospel of Jesus Christ?
First, we need to realize how the Bible says that we are to draw all men.  Notice the words of our Savior:  "And I, if I be lifted up will draw all men unto me."  (John 12:32).  In the very next verse John tells us that Christ is speaking about His death.  Therefore, the drawing power of Christ was the death that He died, rather than a game of one on one.  This point is further emphasized by John in the sixth chapter of his Gospel account.  Consider what Christ told those who murmured against Him:  "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him:  and I will raise him up at the last day."  (John 6:44).  Now in what way does the Father draw all men?  Just consider the next verse:  "It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God.  Every man that hath therefore heard, and hath learned of the Father cometh unto me."  (John 6:45; emphasis-WJ).  The Holy Scriptures state plainly that God and Christ draw all men by the preaching and teaching of the Gospel.  Christ did not use gimmickry or raffles to teach men and women about the kingdom.  He plainly used teaching!!!  Paul claimed by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that the Gospel was "the power of God unto salvation."  (Romans 1:16).  Do we agree with Paul, Christ, God, and the Holy Spirit?
However, if we did not know how Christ drew all men, we would still know that this movement among us is against Scripture.  Colossians 3:17 says that the standard for whatever we do is the authority of Jesus Christ.  Consider that with the fact that nowhere in scripture is a gym or a play in worship authorized.  This alone should prove to those with honest and sincere hearts that these things are wrong.
Please listen young people!  The power of God is still the Gospel of His only begotten Son.  Remember that when some smooth talking deceiver claims that such is out dated and we need a new method.  Let us hold true to the pure Gospel and remember that it is the drawing power of all men.
