It is just waiting to be claimed. An
inheritance unlike any ever known, incomprehensible, awaits you and me.
And it is our’s for the taking! We merely have to reserve our portion
of the inheritance. It is not gold, or money, or houses, or lands,
at least not in the sense of physical possessions. This inheritance
awaits us in heaven (1 Pet. 1:4). In the blessed land of rest (Heb.
11:16) are mansions awaiting you and me (Jn. 14:1-4), and the riches of
heaven are the reward of the faithful (Lk. 16:11). The question is,
are we making our reservations?
First, we must get our names on the roll.
When one obeys the gospel, which culminates in one’s being baptized into
Christ, God places the name of that individual on His roll (Acts 2:47).
Reservations cannot be made by proxy, nor can group reservations be made
by an individual. God accepts only individual reservations.
Second, we must be sure to confirm our reservations.
As one who has become a child of God, we must see that we live our lives
in such a way that our names stay on God’s roll. We can confirm our
reservations by staying in constant communication with God. This
is done through prayer and diligent study of His word. We must live
according to His word, else our reservations will be denied.
What about you? Is your name written
there? When the roll is called up yonder, will you be there?—PM
