Inspiration is the word used to define the process
of the handing down of Scriptures from God to man. The Bible affirms
that it is inspired in II Timothy 3:16,17, "All scripture is given by inspiration
of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect,
thoroughly furnished unto all good works."
To say that the Bible is inspired in the Biblical
sense of the word involves also the understanding that all of it is inspired,
and that not just the thoughts are inspired, but the very words of it are
inspired as we can read in I Corinthians 2:13, "Which things also we speak,
not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost
teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual."
The word inspiration means "God breathed," and an
honest heart can know assuredly that only God could have produced such
a marvelous work as the Bible. Many people try to take away from
the inspiration of Scripture, and it should be noted that this happens
even among some who call themselves "Christians."
Here are some evidences for the inspiration of God
upon the Bible:
1. Scientific foreknowledge
2. Archaeological
and historical accuracy
3. Nonexistence of
error
4. Complete unity
of teaching through time and area in spite of the various fields of the
inspired writers.
