A NEW EVANGELISTIC OUTREACH FOR MABELVALE
Dennis Gulledge

A few weeks ago, in this bulletin, I mentioned a relatively new evangelistic outreach publication called House to House/Heart to Heart.  The Jacksonville church of Christ (P. O. Box 520, Jacksonville, AL 36265) publishes this paper every other month.  Allen Webster (a regular writer for Gospel Gleaner) is the general editor.  It is sent to individuals free upon request and is offered as an evangelistic tool for churches at cost.
HTH/HTH is a very attractive publication.  Not only is it very professional in appearance, but it contains a wealth of extremely helpful and valuable information that will lead the interested reader in the direction of the Lord and his church.  The front page will contain essential information about the Mabelvale church including street and E-mail addresses, telephone and fax numbers, names and telephone numbers of our elders, names and telephone numbers of our preachers, names of our deacons, service times and services offered.   The back page will contain an article called “Thoughts From The Heart,” that I will write, and it will also contain announcements of any events that we might have coming up, such as our gospel meeting with Bill Dillon, of Mountain Home, AR, May 14-17.  The first back page article is their standard piece for first time users.  The six pages in between will contain various articles and regular columns such as, “Think On Good Things, Philippians 4:8,” “The Home Page,” by Chuck Webster, “All Things Considered,” a “Bible Quiz,” “In The Interest Of Christian Unity,” and, “Tell Me More About Jesus.”  We will offer Bible study opportunities such as a free Bible correspondence course, the Jule Miller “Visualized Bible Study” video series, featured tracts, back issues of the Gospel Gleaner, etc.
As we begin this work with the March-April issue we will cover Mabelvale with a mail out of 5,556 copies of HTH/HTH.  We will order a few additional copies to keep in the track rack for those of you who may not receive the paper, but would enjoy seeing what it is all about.  Please pray for this effort and the good results we hope to reap from such a work.  To God be the glory!
Have you stopped to consider the power of the printed page to preach the gospel of Christ?  Even in this modern computer age there is nothing that surpasses it!  Gospel literature is the missionary’s most effective tool of evangelism.  Nothing penetrates the minds and reaches the hearts of people with the soul saving gospel quite like the printed word. False teachers believe in the power of the printed page: Jehovah’s Witnesses publish 500 magazines every sixty seconds (84,000,000 yearly).  Seventh Day Adventists pour $21,000,000 annually into the printed page in 218 languages.  Three million people learn to read every seven days.  What shall they read?  How shall they hear?   Lets do all within our power to spread the gospel by tracts, papers, books and other printed materials.  “Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).
