Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?  This is not an advertisement for a local pumpkin party.  Rather, this is an invitation extended to all by the Devil.  He just loves when people dress up and put on a show, spiritually speaking.  The Devil is always looking for certain costumes at his party.
     Satan just loves to see people dressed as sheep at his costume party, provided they are wolves underneath (Mt. 7:15).  Satan loves those who would outwardly appear as one of God’s innocent little lambs, but who inwardly desire to devour and destroy the church of Christ.
     Another costume Satan loves to see is a silver-tongued devil, and his closest companion—a snake in the grass.  Satan just loves those who would lure unsuspecting people in with flattering words, only to thrust a knife in their backs (Prov. 26:23-25).  Hypocrites provide the Devil with hours upon hours of entertainment.
     Satan himself loves to get in on the fun at his costume party.  He enjoys dressing up as an angel of light (2 Cor. 11:14).  His little minions follow right along, posing as ministers of righteousness (11:15).  Oh what fun Satan has at his costume party!
     As Christians, we need to be sure that we don’t dress ourselves in this manner.  Rather, we should clothe ourselves in Christ (Gal. 3:27), in humility (1 Pet. 5:5), and in the Lord’s armor (Eph. 6:10-18).        Patrick Morrison
